What is a mechanic's lien?
A mechanic’s lien is a notice that a contractor, builder, or supplier can file if they haven’t been paid for work or materials used on your home.
It lets them claim an interest in the property until the payment issue is resolved. Once the contractor is paid, the lien can be released.
A mechanic’s lien doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a problem—it simply shows that payment for construction-related work is still being settled.
